STOCKTON – A partner in a Stockton law firm and legal counsel to the Port of Stockton has been named a Northern California “Super Lawyer” for the seventh straight year.
Steve Herum, a partner with Herum Crabtree, was handed the distinction by Super Lawyer magazine, a Thomson Reuters business and rating service of outstanding lawyers from more than 70 practice areas.
The selection came after a survey of about 47,000 Northern California lawyers and selectees represent the top 5 percent of lawyers.
California State Bar Association’s California Lawyer Magazine also named Herum the Land Use Lawyer of the Year, the only time that a Central Valley attorney has received the statewide recognition.
Herum graduated from Stanford University with “highest distinction” and received his law degree from the University of California, Hastings College of the Law where he served on the Constitutional Law Quarterly. Before law school, Herum was a special assistant to Gov. Jerry Brown, as chief consultant to the State Assembly Committee on California’s Food and Agricultural Economy, and acting chief of staff to Sen. John Garamendi.
He is the former president and board member of the Greater Stockton Chamber of Commerce, a graduate of Leadership Stockton, attends St. Andrews Lutheran Church, is a member of the State Building Industry Association Litigation Task Force, and a member of various civic and social organizations.
He was a Stockton Port Authority commissioner for 11 years before resigning the seat last year and being appointed the Port’s general counsel.
