Memorial Medical Center gets third Institute of Quality designation

Written by

MODESTO – Memorial Medical Center’s work with patients with extreme obesity has earned it another Institute of Quality designation from Aetna.

“We are extremely proud to receive this designation from Aetna,” said Daryn Kumar, Memorial Medical Center chief executive officer. “This is yet another indicator of the dedication and commitment put forth by our team of physicians, nurses and support staff at our Bariatric Surgery Center of Excellence, and demonstrates their focus on providing the best care to patients in need of our services.”

This is the third IOQ designation received by Memorial Medical Center. In November, Aetna recognized the cardiac care provided by MMC with IOQ status for Cardiac Intervention and for Cardiovascular Surgery. Memorial is the only hospital in the three-county area to receive the designations.

The designation is part of Aetna’s mission to make information about the quality and cost of health care services available to its members.  Aetna recognizes hospitals and facilities in its network that offer specialized clinical services for certain health conditions. Facilities are selected as an IOQ for consistently delivering evidence-based, safe care.
