Modesto business donates to 9/11 foundation

MODESTO – A Central Valley business that supplies public safety workers with clothing and other gear last week made a donation to the FDNY Foundation.

Dan Costa, founder of 5.11 Tactical in Modesto, on Wednesday (Jan. 25) donated $63,000 to the foundation in memory of the people lost on Sept. 11, 2001.

“We are so grateful to the men and women who put their lives on the line for us on 9/11 and every day,” Costa said in a statement about the donation. “This is one way for us to show public safety officers across the country that we will not forget their sacrifices.”

As part of the 10th anniversary of the terrorist attacks on Sept. 11, 2001, 5.11 Tactical honored public safety officers by creating a line of tactical clothing that features a logo of the World Trade Center, the Pentagon, and the No. 93 representing Flight 93, with the words “Never Forget.” Profits from the sales of that line of products are donated to the FDNY Foundation for fire service and emergency medical service operations and the National Law Enforcement Officers Memorial Fund.
