MODESTO – Women needing treatment for cancer of the reproductive organs no longer need to leave the Central Valley. The Gould Medical Group has announced Dr. Trung T. Nguyen, a gynecologic oncologist, has joined its ranks.
“The opportunity to recruit a gynecologic oncologist like Dr. Nguyen is very exciting for not only our medical community, but our community as a whole” said Paul DeChant, CEO of Sutter Gould Medical Foundation. “This is a real benefit for patients throughout the Central Valley. Patients who can stay close to home for treatment benefit from having the comfort of friends, family and familiar surroundings as a part of their healing and recovery process.”
Nguyen treats patients with cancer of female reproductive organs including the cervix, uterus, and ovaries. He is trained to perform surgical procedures using the da Vinci robot, which allows for small incisions and faster recovery times for patients. He recently completed a Fellowship in Gynecologic Oncology at the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey’s Robert Wood Johnson Medical School - Cooper University Hospital.
Nguyen received his medical degree with honors from Touro University, California and completed his residency at Washington University School of Medicine/Barnes-Jewish Hospital. He worked as an Ob/Gyn at the Virtua Center for Women in Mount Holly, NJ, and has obtained numerous awards and honors, including the Editor’s Award for a research presentation at the St. Louis Gynecological Society Annual Scientific Meeting and the Harold A. Fales Memorial Award (Rutgers University). He won the Highest Honors as a Rutgers scholar, and was named as Rutgers Undergraduate Research Fellow. He published in peer-review journals and presented his research at regional, national and international scientific meetings.
Nguyen is also fluent in Vietnamese.
