Hispanic chamber sponsors procurement expo

Written by

STOCKTON – State agencies, counties, cities, utilities and more will be at the Small and Diverse Business Procurement Expo 2012 to help businesses learn how to bid for contracts.

The expo, sponsored in part by the San Joaquin County Hispanic Chamber of Commerce, will be 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Oct. 4 at the Hilton Stockton at 2323 Grand Canal Blvd. in Stockton. The California Department of General Services and the state Public Utilities Commission are also sponsoring the event.

Registration for the event is 7 to 8 a.m., with opening remarks 8 to 8:15 a.m. and panel discussion for the next hour on connecting small businesses with public agency and utility contracts.

The rest of the day will include workshops, a vendor fair, and “business matchmaking” – 10-minute appointments with buyers, project managers, and prime contractors. The workshops will include information on how to market a small business to public agencies and utilities once certified, how to use social media, and how small businesses can go green.

Register at www.applications.dgs.ca.gov/pd/cssibid/RegisterIntro.asp?EventID=320 . Organizers requested that attendees RSVP by Sept.27.
